The USS Pearl Harbor ( LSD -52 ) is a dock landing ship of the United States Navy and is one of the Harpers Ferry - class. It was named for the naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

History

LSD - 52 was commissioned in 1993 and established in early 1995 at Avondale Shipyard in Kiel. 13 months later, the ship was launched and was baptized. End of May 1998 was commissioned in the Pearl Harbor.

The Pearl Harbor is stationed in San Diego and will take from there regularly use trips as part of so-called Expeditionary Strike Groups. 2003 moved about the ship during Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2007, the Pearl Harbor USS Mitscher with their escorts (DDG -57) and USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG -58), the American component of the exercises UNITAS 48-07 and Partnership of the Americas.

On an installation in 2008 on the side of the USS Peleliu (LHA - 5) Pearl Harbor ran on July 21 in the Persian Gulf on reason. The ship took no damage, the commander, a Bronze Star carrier, but was subsequently relieved of his command. Also on the side of Peleliu was followed by 2010, another laying in the Persian Gulf. In August 2010, the group went to Karachi at anchor to bring their helicopters with relief supplies to those affected by the floods in Pakistan regions.
