Uterine veins

The uterine vein (Latin for, Gebärmuttervene ') is a blood vessel ( vein) of the abdominal cavity. It arises from the venous plexuses ( plexus venosus vaginalis, uterine plexus ), which are located in the wall of the vagina or uterus and ensure the flow of blood to the corresponding organs. The uterine vein then pulls in the parametrium and opens into the internal iliac vein.

In cattle, the V is only weakly uterine and also opens into the internal iliac vein. In horses, the V. uterine opens into the external iliac vein. In cattle and horses Gebärmuttervene plays no significant role in the flow of blood from the uterus, in sheep it is missing altogether. In pigs, the Gebärmuttervene opens into the vena ovarica. For predators, the ramus of the uterine vein vaginalis is called V. uterine.
