Útgarða-Loki

Utgardloki is a giant in Norse mythology. Its name is a combination of the terms and Utgard Loki, resulting in seat and character already reveal. He reigns at the castle of Utgard and acts as cunning as the Loki the Aesir. The meeting of Utgardloki and Thor describes Snorri in Gylfaginning as follows:

When Thor went with Loki, Thialfi and Röskwa tions Utgard, she first met Utgardloki in the shape of giant Skrymir. After they arrived in the hall, Thor and his companions were challenged to competitions. Loki could not keep up with Logi in the eating contest. Thialfi was defeated in the race of Hugi. Thor tried in vain an empty drinking horn to drink, was defeated in a wrestling match against the nurse Elli, and strove in vain to lift a cat.

Only the next day revealed Utgardloki the contrite Thor his delusion. Logi was the eating wild fire that not only the feed in the trough, but also all the bones and the trough itself consumed with. Hugi was the wind- fast thought that Thialfi could not catch. Thor's drinking horn was connected at the other end with the sea, so it could not be emptied. The nurse Elli was the age that no one could bend and the cat lying on the floor, was nothing more than the Midgard Serpent itself

Although Thor could not meet the tests imposed upon him, Utgardloki was shocked by the strength and revealed to him that he would be his castle provided in future with deceit and deception so that Thor would find this ever again. Thor enraged when he heard how he had been fooled, and raised his hammer to Utgardloki slain. But both of these as well as its castle suddenly disappeared before Thor's eyes and could not be found again.
