Uttaradit
Province
Uttaradit ( in Thai อุตรดิตถ์ ) is a city ( เทศบาล เมือง อุตรดิตถ์ ) in the Thai province of Uttaradit. It is the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Amphoe Mueang Uttaradit Uttaradit Province and in the northern region of Thailand.
Uttaradit has 33,985 inhabitants ( 2012).
Geography
Uttaradit is about 450 kilometers north of the capital Bangkok. The vast plain of Maenam Nan ( Nan River ) contributes to a certain monotony of the environment.
History
Uttaradit is located in the north of Thailand, which was fought over for centuries between Ayutthaya and Burma.
In 1967 the city was almost completely destroyed by fire. The old part was rebuilt at the same time built a new district.
Economic importance and
The fertile plains of Maenam Nan allows for intensive agriculture. Rice cultivation and orchards are very numerous.

- Wat Tha Thanon - Temple in the city center at the train station with a seated Buddha figure, where you always find believers in worship. The temple was built in the Lan Na period ( 12th century).
- Wat Khung Taphao - Temple in Tambon Khung Taphao
- Monument Phraya Nak Phichai Dat ( Phraya Phichai Daphak, Thai: พระยา พิชัย ดาบ หัก ) - Local hero of Uttaradit, he defended the city on the side of King Taksin against the Burmese.
- The station building in Uttaradit was designed and built 1906-1912 by the German architect Karl Döring.
