Uwe Beckmeyer

Uwe Meyer Karl Beck (born 26 March 1949 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician ( SPD). From 1987 to 1991 he was a Senator for Economic Affairs and 1991-1999 Senator of Foreign Trade of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. From 2006 to 2010 he was state chairman of the SPD Bremen. He's since the end of 2013 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy.

Biography

Education and work

After graduation in 1968 the Business High School Beck Meyer graduated for teaching at primary and lower secondary and secondary schools, which he finished with the first and after completing clerkship with the second state examination. Until 1975 he worked as a teacher in Bremerhaven. He is married and has a son.

Policy

Beck Meyer is since 1969 member of the SPD and was from 1972 to 1987 Chairman of the SPD sub-district of Bremerhaven. On 25 March 2006 he was elected state chairman of the SPD in Bremen. In 2010 he gave the chair to Andreas Bovenschulte.

From 1975 to 1987 and from 1999 to 2002 Beck Meyer was a member of the Bremen City Parliament. Here he was from 1979 to 1987 Deputy Chairman of the SPD.

Since 2002 he is member of the German Bundestag. Here he is since October 2004 Speaker of the Working Group on Transport, Building and Housing and since November 2005 Transport, Building and Urban Development of the SPD parliamentary group. From December 2005 until the new constitution after the parliamentary elections in 2009, he also was a member of the Group Executive Board. Beck Meyer is always a directly elected representative of the constituency Bremen II - drawn in Bremerhaven in the Bundestag. In the 2005 federal election he reached here 54.4% of the primary vote. Since 2009 he is a pilot of the SPD - coast transition.

On October 15, 1987 Beck Meyer was appointed as a Senator for Economics, Technology and Foreign Trade in the Senate of President Klaus Wedemeier (SPD ) led the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. After the parliamentary election in 1991, he was on 11 December 1991 Ministry of Ports, shipping and foreign trade and at the same time as a senator for Federal Affairs Commissioner for Federal. With the inauguration of Henning Scherf (SPD ) as the new Mayor and Senate President Beck Meyer was elected on July 4, 1995 on the senator for Ports, Transport and Foreign Trade and the Senator for work. After the parliamentary election in 1999, he retired on 7 July 1999 from the Office.

In December 2013 were Beck Meyer Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Sigmar Gabriel (SPD ) in the Cabinet Merkel III and new Maritime Coordinator of the Federal Government.
