Uzbekistan national rugby union team

The Uzbek national rugby union team represents Uzbekistan in the sport of Rugby Union. It belongs to the third class strength ( third tier ). First time in 2008 joined an Uzbek national rugby team in an international game. Previously, the team played as part of the Soviet Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. So far, the Uzbeks have not yet qualify for a world championship itself.

History

1936 Rugby Union Association of the Soviet Union was founded. Until 1991, the Uzbek team was part of this association. On 8 October 2008 the Uzbek national team played the first official match in its history against Iran, which was lost with 6:8. Two days later, the team managed a draw against Kyrgyzstan at 15:15. In June 2009, the Uzbek selection scored the first win of the young rugby union history. Opponent was again Kyrgyzstan.
