V&A Museum of Childhood

The Museum of Childhood is located in the east of London, in Bethnal Green. It is part of the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (short form: V & A). Current director of the collections is Sir Roy Strong.

History

The museum was founded in 1877 under the name Bethnal Green Museum. Catchment kept this in a prefabricated building. This came from the former complex of the Victoria and Albert Museum and was located in South Kensington. After dismantling the translocation of Albertopolis took place in the east of London.

The museum was closed for a remodeling and expansion from 2005. Since December 2006, the museum is open again.
