Vacallo is a municipality in the district in the district of Mendrisio Caneggio the canton of Ticino in Switzerland on the border with Italy.

On 25 November 2007, a merger template failed in the communities Chiasso, Morbio Inferiore and Vacallo.

Geography

Vacallo lies to the east of Mendrisio Chiasso north of the north bank of the river Breggia. The municipality comprises the fractions Pizzamiglio, Roggiana, San Simone, Vacallo and Vacallo Alta and is bordered to the north by Breggia, to the northeast of Cernobbio (CO, Italy), to the east by Maslianico (CO, Italy), in the southeast of Como (CO, Italy), on the south by Chiasso, and to the west by Morbio Inferiore.
