Vadim Repin

Vadim Repin ( Vadim Viktorovich Repin, [ vɐ'dim ' viktɐrvitʃ ' repin ] Вадим Викторович Репин; born August 31, 1971 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian violinist and lives in Vienna.

Career

Vadim Repin received his first violin lessons at age five with Natalia Gatjatulina in Novosibirsk. A little later he moved on their recommendation to Zakhar Bron, one of the best violin teacher ever.

He raised international attention when he became the youngest previously won the Concours Reine Elisabeth 1989.

He gave concerts as a soloist with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam and played with Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev and Mariss Jansons.

Repin has often appearances at Carnegie Hall and at the London Proms. In May 2010, he brought with the London Symphony Orchestra under Gergiev the written for him by James MacMillan 's Violin Concerto world premiere.

Vadim Repin married in 2001 Caroline Diemunsch. 2006 their son Leonardo was born. Meanwhile he married Svetlana Zakharova, the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet, with whom he has a daughter since February 2011.
