Vakhtang Chabukiani

Vakhtang Chabukiani (Georgian ვახტანგ ჭაბუკიანი; * 27 Februarjul / March 12 1910greg in Tbilisi, .. † April 6, 1992 ) was a Georgian dancer and choreographer. His choreographies of the Soviet period are attributed to their devotion to the interpretation of works of classical literature.

Life

Chabukiani grew, the fifth child of a carpenter in poverty in Georgia. In 1924 he was taken after a training in several ballet schools in the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet troupe. 1926 to 1929 he studied at the Choreographic Institute Leningrad and then danced until 1941 as a soloist at the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater. 1938 and 1939 he conducted the first performances at this theater with their own choreographies.

1941-1973 led Chabukiani in Tbilisi the Paliashvili Opera and Ballet Theatre. 1950 to 1977 he taught at the technical school of choreography as artistic director. 1965 to 1970 he headed the Rustaveli Theatre Institute. In the movies Master grusinskogo Baleta (German masters of the Georgian Ballet, 1955) and Othello ( 1960) he directed.

Services

Similar Rostislav Zakharov and Leonid Lavrovsky Vakhtang Chabukiani built his plays according to the laws of the play. They were realistic and large created. The result was the so-called dramatic ballet - Ballet spectacle.

In 1948 and 1951, he was honored with the Soviet State Prize, 1958 with the Lenin Prize. After his death he was buried in the Pantheon on the mountain Mtazminda in Tbilisi.
