Valašské Meziříčí

Valašské Meziříčí [ valaʃskɛ: mɛzɪr̝i: tʃi: ] ( German Wallachian Meseritsch ) is a city of Moravian Wallachia in Okres Vsetín.

Geography

The city is located at the confluence of Vsetínská Bečva and Rožnovská Bečva to Bečva. Situated at the feet of the host 's mountains, Wsetiner mountains and the Moravian-Silesian Beskids.

History

Originally Valašské Meziříčí from two places: Krasno nad Bečvou and Meziříčí, on the right or left bank of the Rožnovská Bečva.

This was first mentioned Meziříčí 1297, almost 100 years later, he was awarded city rights. Until the mid-15th century Meziříčí belonged to the episcopal seigniory Arnoltovice and then became the seat of this rule. Until the 18th century Meziříčí was used even without the addition Valašské. But also Meziříčí nad Bečvou or Meziříčí pod Rožnovem was used meantime. 1924 joined Krasno and Meziříčí together.

In 1942, the 150 Jews of Valašské Meziříčí Theresienstadt were deported to the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Treblinka. The church dedicated to the memory of that in 2004 a Holocaust memorial one.

After 1945 Valašské Meziříčí developed into a center for the chemical and glass industries. International plays today but only the chemical industry, a role that is represented by tapestry. Schott Solar operates here since 2009, a 40 MW production line for solar modules.

The Valašské Meziříčí consists of the districts Bynina ( Binina ) Hrachovec ( Hrachowetz ) Juřinka ( Jurschinka ), Krasno nad Bečvou ( Krasna ), Lhota ( Lhota Chorin ), Podlesí and Valašské Meziříčí ( Wallachian Meseritsch ) as well as the villages Brňov ( Bernau ) and Křivé ( kriwy ).
