The ships of the class are Valemax with a cargo capacity of about 400,000 tonnes and a length of 362 m is the largest bulk carrier of the world.

Particulars

The first ship of the series was the Vale Brasil. The Very Large Ore Carrier 2009 ordered ( VLOC ) was on 15 November 2010 at the shipyard of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea Okpo placed on Kiel, released on New Year's Eve of that year to water, delivered 26 March 2011 and four days later put into service.

Is bereedert the ore carrier by the shipping company Anglo -Eastern Ship Management, the owner is the Brazilian mining group Vale (formerly CVRD ). The ship carries out a construction program of 35 Valemax ships. This series of VLOC 's with capacities 388000-400000 tons is performed on the two shipyards Daewoo in South Korea and Jiangsu Rongcheng Heavy industry in China as well as on two other shipyards in China and South Korea.

The Vale Brasil solves the Berge Stahl as previous size record holder from and contributed to its performance in the Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro in May 2011, nearly a football field, a large banner with the Portuguese inscription: " Vale Brasil o maior navio graneleiro do Mundo. " ( German: Vale Brasil the largest bulk carrier of the world) on the outer sides.
