Valeriu Răchită

Valeriu RACHITA (* May 30, 1970 in Boldesti - Scaeni ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. He played 333 games in the Romanian Divizia A, the Turkish Süper Lig and the Bulgarian A Grupa. In the seasons 1996/97 and 1997/98 he won the Romanian championship with Steaua Bucharest.

Career as a player

The career of RACHITA began in the 1988/89 season at Metalul Plopeni in Divizia B. In the summer of 1989 he moved to first division side Steaua Bucharest in the Divizia A, but could not prevail there and only came up with two inserts. He left Steaua in the summer of 1990 and joined league rival Petrolul Ploiesti on. In Petrolul he became a team regular in the season 1990/91. During his time in Ploieşti he placed his team mostly in the midfield in the league. In 1995, he won with a victory in the penalty shootout against Rapid Bucharest the Romanian Cup.

In early 1997, received RACHITA for the second time the opportunity to switch to Steaua Bucharest. This time he was able to capture a regular place and won with Steaua in 1997, the double of league and cup. The success in the championship, he was able to repeat his team a year later. In early 1999 he left to Steaua promoted FC Onesti, with whom he secured the relegation. He then moved to Farul Constanta before he MKE Ankaragucu joined in the Turkish Süper Lig. There he came only five missions so that he joined in the summer of 2000 to Litex Lovech in the Bulgarian A Grupa. There he was able in 2001 to win the Bulgarian Cup and complete the 2001/02 season as runners-up behind Levski Sofia.

In the summer of 2002 RACHITA changed for the third time to Steaua Bucharest. In the season 2003/ 04 he came here regularly used. In early 2005 he moved to FC Universitatea Craiova League rival, but only came to another use and finished in the summer of 2006 his active career.

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career RACHITA worked as a football coach. Even in his last season, he supervised his club Petrolul Ploiesti in Divizia B. In the summer of 2006 he took over league rival Chimia Brazi, with whom he was relegated at the end of the 2006/07 season. He then became head coach of Astra Ploieşti in Liga III and led the club to the League II before he was released in the winter break of 2008/ 09 and replaced by Marius Şumudică. In summer 2009 it undertook local rivals Petrolul Ploieşti. His new club he led in the season 2010/11 back in the League 1 In March 2012, he was considering the impending descent dismissed and replaced by Gheorghe Mulţescu. Since then, he is without a club.
