Valur Football Club

Valur Reykjavík Knattspyrnufélagid is a sports club from the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.

The football team of the club plays in the Icelandic league.

History

The club was founded on 11 May 1911 as ÍF KFUM Reykjavík; In 1918 he merged with Voeringjar Reykjavik. Around the same time he was renamed Valur. The first men's team Valur was 19 times Icelandic football champions ( in 1930 ) and won eight times the Icelandic Cup (most recently 2005). The women's team resigned in 2005 in the quarter- finals of the UEFA Cup competition against 1 FFC Turbine Potsdam. Between May and July 2006, the German world champion Viola Odebrecht a two-month stint with the Valur - wife team that was ungefährdeter at the time the leader of the island's first women's league.

Except in football are also teams in handball and basketball at the start.
