Vampiro

Ian Richard Hodgkinson (* May 30, 1967 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional wrestler and actor, who began last as Vampiro in the short-lived Wrestling Society X Wrestling show of MTV. He is currently a member of the Guardian Angels to lead this group in Mexico City, where he gained popularity in the late 1980s first as a wrestler, is concerned.

Personal

Hodgkinson grew up in Thunder Bay along with two sisters, the son of a single mother. Built early very big and strong, he played in his youth ice hockey. In 1984 he was selected for the team the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Hockey League, but retired in the pre-season. Hodgkinson has now additionally the Mexican nationality. He is divorced and has one daughter.

Career

1984 Hodgkinson was on the Promotion World Wrestling Council in Montreal as a jobber his wrestling debut. Three years later, after a period in which he worked by its own account, among other things as a bouncer one clubs Mickey Rourke and as a bodyguard for Milli Vanilli, he went to Mexico, where he competed for the biggest local wrestling promoters Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre. In the same year Vampiro took part in a tournament for the vacant WCW United States title, but already retired on the first round against "The Great Muta " from, with whom he later formed a short-lived tag team little. with this team Vampiro won his only WCW title when they were allowed to beat the champions " Kronik " (Brian Adams and Bryan Clark). The aging Muta and Vampiro had the title the next day to Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera to pass. Vampiro was injured in the acquisition of WCW by its competitor World Wrestling Entertainment, his contract was not accepted. Hodgkinson went back to CMLL, but appeared also in All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he competed with the Great Muta again as a tag team. In 2003 he had a brief phase in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Appeared in 2005 Hodgkinson in the Mexican Asistencia Asesoría y Administración wrestling promotion (AAA ) where he was also responsible as a booker for the Match fixture. In this organization, he won the Rey de Reyes trophy. In addition, he stepped further into independent promotions, mostly as a participant in title fights.
