Vancouver Folk Music Festival

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival ( VFMF ) is a company specializing in Folk Music Festival in the Canadian city of Vancouver, which takes place every year on the third weekend of July. The venue is the Jericho Beach Park, a stretch of coastline on the English Bay.

The VFMF first took place in 1977. Among the most famous artists who have performed here include Ani Difranco, Utah Phillips, Geoff Berner, Adrian Sherwood, Veda Hille, Feist, K'naan and Suzie Ungerleider. Since the beginning of the 21st century alongside singer- songwriters and world music artists are also increasingly hip hop formations of the program.

The number of festival visitors fluctuates between 10,000 and 30,000, depending on weather, awareness of the musicians that appear and competition from other events. The festival is organized by the Folk Music Festival Society and approximately 1,000 volunteers. On sponsorship of major corporations is largely dispensed with, which is financed instead by government authorities, cultural foundations and smaller local companies.
