Vara Municipality

Vara is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish county of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland. Capital is Vara. Other places are Emtunga, Young, Kvänum, Larv, Stora Levene, Tråvad, Vedum and other smaller towns.

Geography

The municipality comprises the so-called Vara Vara - level, which is a part of the Västgöta level. The area is used for agriculture intensive. Numerous archeological finds indicate an early settlement of this area. In Sparlösa in the north of the municipality is the Runestone Sparlösa one of the largest rune stones in Sweden.

Economy

Vara is a distinct agricultural community. Approximately 7 % of the work force are employed in agriculture ( the realm cut is less than 2 %) and a further 35 % in the industry, which is often related to agriculture, dominated by small enterprises and medium-sized companies.
