Vardapet

Wardapet (Armenian Վարդապետ ) is a title in the Armenian Apostolic Church and in German means "teacher" or " teacher". The name goes back to Mesrop and Sahak Catholicos. A Wardapet is an ordained priest monk who may take over certain tasks in the church after his studies: preaching, teaching in a diocese, diocesan administration, it can participate in the episcopal jurisdiction by delegation. There are fourteen shades. Today Wardapet is also an honorary title.
