Varennes-Vauzelles
Varennes- Vauzelles is a commune with 9567 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nièvre in the Burgundy region.
Geography
The municipality is located in the center of France. By train you can be reached in two hours from Paris. It is the third most populous municipality in the department of Nièvre. The municipality is part of the Communauté d' agglomération de Nevers.
History
Originally Varennes- Vauzelles a rural community. 1912 established a company in place Vauzelles a locomotive workshop. Thus, the predominantly agricultural society was transformed into a modern industrial society. Between 1921 and 1930, a 350 homes that have been to the garden city. In 1969, the municipality of Varennes- les- Nevers was renamed in Varennes- Vauzelles. In the 1950s and especially in the 1970s created more new settlements.
