Vasculogenesis

Under the vasculogenesis (from the Latin vas, " the vessel " and Greek γένεση, genesis, " birth ", " creation ", "Education " ) is the formation of new blood vessels from endothelial progenitor cells, which are formed in the bone marrow. These are certain messengers ( cytokines ) - such as Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor ( VEGF) - attracted and transported via the bloodstream to the site of the release of the neurotransmitter, such as a wound, a tumor, the corpus luteum.

It is believed that vasculogenesis plays a larger role in embryonic development ( embryogenesis ) and in the adult organism, angiogenesis plays the more important role.
