Vasilis Georgiadis

Vasilis Georgiadis (Greek Βασίλης Γεωργιάδης, born August 12, 1921 the Dardanelles, Asia Minor, † April 30, 2000 in Athens ) was a Greek film and television director, actor and producer. He is considered one of the greatest Greek film directors and as an innovator of the Greek film.

His films Kokkina Fanaria (1963) and Bleeding Country (1965 ) were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Koritsia ston ilio (1968 ) was also nominated in the category Best Foreign Language Film Golden Globe. When Film Festival Thessaloniki his films were repeatedly won prizes.

In the 1970s, Georgiadis turned to television, where he directed many successful series.
