Vaslui County

Vaslui [ vasluj ] is a Romanian county (Romanian Judet ) in the region of Moldova to the district capital Vaslui. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are VS.

The Vaslui county is bordered on the north by the county of Iaşi, on the east by the Republic of Moldova, on the south by the county of Galaţi, on the southwest by the Vrancea County, on the west by the county Bacau and to the northwest by the district of Neamt.

Demography

In 2002, the Vaslui county 455 049 inhabitants and a population density of 86 inhabitants per km ². Of these, 449 796 Romanians, Roma 4873, 134 Lipovans, 33 Jews, 22 Greeks, 21 Turks, 20 German.

On 1 January 2009 the district had 452 816 inhabitants and a population density of 85 inhabitants per km ².

Geography

The Vaslui county has ( according to different data), a total area of ​​5318 km ² and 5297 km ², equivalent to 2.2 x % of the area of Romania.

In eastern Romania, crossed by the river Bârlad in north-south direction, the circle is located east of the Eastern Carpathians in the historical region of Moldavia ( Principatul Moldovei ). Between the communities Dranceni in the north and the south of the River Prut Blagesti borders ( Prut ) from the east of the circle.
