Vasso Karantasiou

Vassiliki " Vaso " Karadassiou (Greek Βασιλική " Βάσω " Καραντάσιου, born January 6, 1973 in Athens ) is a former Greek beach volleyball player.

At the Olympic Summer Games 2000 Karadassiou represented her country together with Effrosyni Sfyri. While the duo occupied the 17th place with just one win after a defeat against the Germans Friedrichsen / Müsch, won the two Greek women a year later the European Championship in Venice. Front rankings reach the pairing still at the European Championships in 2003 and 2004 (each fifth ). At the 2004 Summer Olympics in his own country Karadassiou / Sfyri survived the first round, but failed in the second round of the Brazilian pairing of Ana Paula / Sandra Pires. The last common tournament contested Karadassiou / Sfyri at the Turkish Open in 2005. According to the fifth place Sfyri ended her career.

With her new partner Vasiliki Arvaniti Karadassiou launched in the very next tournament at the Spanish Open. The new pairing reached equal to the final, where they lost against the Germans Pohl / Rau. Even more successful the two Greek women were at the European Championships 2005 in Moscow and 2007 in Valencia by winning the gold medal. At the 2008 Summer Olympics but Karadassiou / Arvaniti eliminated from winless after the first round. Then Vassiliki Karadassiou ended her international career.
