Västtrafik

Västtrafik is the second largest public transport network in Sweden.

The company, based in Skövde served by public transport with buses, ferries, trains, taxis and trams in the county of Västra Götaland County, and Kungsbacka in the municipality in the province of Halland County.

The Company was incorporated on 21 August 1998 and became fully operational on 1 January 1999. The transport companies Göteborgsregionens local Trafik AB, Göteborg och Bohus Läns Trafik AB, AB and Älvsborgstrafiken Skaraborgs Läns Trafik AB took over shares in the new company. At the same time up to this time in a commercial run city traffic in Gothenburg was transferred to the Company. 2006 merged all subsidiaries with the parent company.

Owner since February 1, 2012 only Västra Götalandsregionen, previously held 49 municipalities in the province Västra Götaland County and the province of the half of the ownership shares each.

2011 drove 267 million travelers with Västtrafik.
