Vasyl Durdynets

Vasyl Wassyljowytsch Durdynez (Ukrainian Василь Васильович Дурдинець, scientific transliteration Vasyl ' Vasyl'ovyč Durdynec ​​'; born September 27, 1937 in Romotschewyzja, Transcarpathia ) was from June 19, 1997 to July 16, 1997 Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Vasyl Durdynez was born the son of a poor farmer. After school he studied until completion in 1960 at the National Ivan Franko University in Lviv. From 1958 to 1978 he worked in the Komsomol and organs of the Communist Party in Lviv, Moscow and Kiev.

1978 Durdynez became a deputy in 1982 and first deputy of the Ukrainian Interior Minister. He held until February 1991 This post.

From March 1990 to April 1994 he was a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament. On January 29, 1992, he was elected the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament. In July 1995 he became a member of the Cabinet and Deputy Prime Minister. On June 18, 1996, he was appointed the first Deputy Prime Minister and on 14 February 1997 as Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for the fight against corruption and organized crime to the President of Ukraine. From 22 March 1997, he was minister for civil protection and the protection of the population from the after-effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
