Växjö Lakers Hockey is an ice hockey club from Växjö in Sweden, which was founded in 1997 and since 2011 plays in the Svenska Hockey ligands. The home games of the association will be held in the Vida Arena.

History

The original club Växjö Lakers was founded in 1971. In 1997, the Hockey department was relocated and changed his name to Växjö Lakers Hockey. First, the club played in the third-tier Division 1, the club championship in 2002 and 2003 won. 2003 reached the summit in the HockeyAllsvenskan. In the 2010/11 season the team won the championship of the HockeyAllsvenskan and thus qualified for the Kvalserien to the rise in the Elitserien. In this, the team won a total of nine of the ten games, and for the first time rose to the first division.

In addition to the professional team maintains the club youth teams of all ages as well as a women's team.

Home ground

For the home games of the club teams was initially the Växjö Ishall used, which was built in 1970 and 2006 offered space for 4015 spectators for a conversion. The best average attendance in the old hall had the club in the first second-division season 2003/ 04, as an average of 2977 spectators attended the home games. With the start of the 2011/12 season the club moved to the new Vida Arena.
