VEF I-12

The VEF Irbītis I-12 was a Latvian trainer aircraft. It was constructed by Karlis Irbītis and (VEF ) built by valsts elektrotehniskā fabrika 1935-1941. It consisted largely of wood. A total of twelve aircraft of this type were built. 1937 were made in Paris with an I -12 several flight demonstrations. In London there was the Druckenthaner Air Race to a 5th place and won a silver cup. The international tour ended with a nine-hour non-stop flight from London to Riga.
