Vehbi AkdaÄŸ

Vehbi Akdağ ( born January 1, 1949 in Tokat ) is a former Turkish wrestler. He was the silver medalist at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich in free style at featherweight.

Career

Vehbi Akdağ began as a teenager in Tokat with the rings, and quickly developed into an outstanding freestyle wrestler. He was inducted into the Turkish national team and used at the Olympic Games in Mexico City in free style at featherweight in 1968. He won there on Hans -Jürgen Luczak from the GDR and Josef Engel from Czechoslovakia and fought draw against Elkan Tedejew from the Soviet Union and Nikolaos Karipidis from Greece.
