Veli Mukhatov

Weli Muhadow (also Welimuhammet Muhadow or Russian Вели ( мухамед ) Мухатов / Weli ( Muchamed ) Muchatow; * 22 Apriljul / May 5 1916greg in Bagir in Ashgabat, .. † January 6, 2005 in Ashgabat ) was a Turkmen composer.

Life

Muhadow, son of a farmer, grew up in a musical environment. In 1935 Gliere noticed him during a visit to Turkmenistan. Glière allowed Muhadow to start studying at the Moscow Conservatory from 1936 ( until 1951, including composition with Sergei Vasilenko ). Its use in World War II provided for the temporary interruption.

Muhadow was several times a member of the Supreme Soviet and starred in his own country as one of the pioneers in the development of Turkmenistan's national music. Since 1979 he worked as professor of composition in Ashgabat. In 1993 he was invited to teach in Ankara. Muhadow twice received the Stalin Prize (1951 and 1952 ), 1965 the title of " People's Artist of the USSR", in 1972 the State Prize of the Turkmen SSR, and in 1986 he was awarded the title " Hero of Socialist Labor ". In addition, some religious (including the Order of Lenin ) and medals he was awarded.

Style

Muhadow joined in his compositions Turkmen folklore of Soviet music of the 20th century. Influences of traditional music forms and genres of his home as the mugham, which are reflected mainly in Melos, harmonic and rhythmic vehemence, he incorporated into a trained on the European ( symphonic ) tradition musical language, such as in the symphonic poem " My Country ".
