Velimir Khlebnikov

Velimir Khlebnikov (Russian Велимир Хлебников; actually Viktor Vladimirovich Khlebnikov / Виктор Владимирович Хлебников, scientific transliteration Viktor Vladimirovič Khlebnikov; * 28 Oktoberjul / November 9 1885greg in Tundutowo ( province of Astrakhan, Kalmykia today ). . † June 28, 1922 in Santalowo ( Rajon Kresttsy, Novgorod Oblast ) ) was a poet of Russian Futurism, whose work and influence but goes far beyond this movement.

Life

The areas Khlebnikov studies - mathematics, science, Sanskrit and Slavic - indicate only the essential areas, which were reflected in his work. His unusual personality elicited the highest esteem, lack of understanding, but also ridicule. He put no value on material possessions and lived mostly without permanent residence.

Importance

Khlebnikov influenced the Russian seal like no other.

He was one of the most significant Futuristengruppe Gileas at ( Гилея ). Together with Vladimir Mayakovsky, David Burliuk and Alexei Kruchenykh 1912 he published the manifesto A slap in the face to the general taste (Russian " Пощечина общественному вкусу "), which is also considered as manifesto of Russian Futurism.

Among his best known works bobeobi ( 1908/ 09), Grasshopper ( 1908/ 09), Kolokol Uma (1913) and the so-called over- narration ( сверхповесть ) Zangezi. Together with Aleksei Kruchenykh (text) and Mikhail Matjuschin (music), for decoration and costume designs by Kazimir Malevich he was one of the authors of the " first futurist opera" Victory over the Sun ( Pobeda nad solnzem ); a key work of Russian and European avant-garde, premiered in St. Petersburg in December 1913.

In his work, Khlebnikov experimented with the Russian language. He went back to their roots and invented countless neologisms. Together with Kruchenykh he developed the art language check, which should be a universal language, a star or even bird language. He was also fascinated by Slavic mythology, and has designed a synthesizing of Euro Asian spirit world. He saw himself as chairman of the globe, practiced a "Destiny science" that he had settled in the border area between poetry and mathematics and allowed him to predict the downfall of the empire, the Second World War and the liberation of Africa from colonization.
