Venados de Yucatán

Club Deportivo Atlético Yucatán, also known by the nickname Venados (Spanish for deer ), is a former football club from Mérida, the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán.

History

The association was between 1988 and 2001 without interruption to the second Mexican soccer league, the Liga Segunda to 1994 and from 1994 as La Liga 'A' came into existence.

In both leagues the Venados reached in each case once the playoffs for promotion to the Primera División, however, failed in both cases.

At the end of the 1988/89 season Atlético Yucatán was in ascent final against Potros Neza. After a 0-1 away defeat and a 1-0 home win a third game was necessary, the 0-3 in the Estadio Jalisco Guadalajara lost the Venados and thus were second-rate. The Potros did not take its rise then but true, but sold their license to the CD Veracruz.

Ten years later, the Venados were again in the ascendancy Finals, where they had to deal with the former first division Union de Curtidores this time. The fate tragically repeated itself: initially defeated Atlético (this time clearly with 0:2 and 1:5 ) and then did not take the climb legitimate team their rise true, but sold its license. Beneficiary this time was the Puebla FC.

Because the Venados had to contend with increasing financial problems, she finally sold at the end of the season 2000/ 01 their second division license. While they got the license for the 2002/ 03 season once again back, but then had to finally give up. This unsatisfactory situation for local football fans, the brothers Arturo Millet Reyes and Mauricio called on the plan. To continue to see second division football, they came for the team of Nacional Tijuana to Merida and integrally formed from the Venados del Mérida Fútbol Club as the legitimate successor of the disappeared Venados de Yucatán.
