Veoh Networks, Inc., is a company based in San Diego, California company that provides an Internet TV service. Users can view material of major film production companies, independent and own productions.

History

Veoh was founded in 2003 by Dmitry Shapiro. The company launched in September 2005 a first version on the market and launched its beta version in March 2006. Officially went Veoh ( after the beta version ) in February 2007 at the start. Veoh has received about 40 million dollars of investment. Major investors are Time Warner, Michael Eisner 's Tornante Company, Spark Capital, Shelter Capital Partners, Tom Freston 's Firefly3 LLC and Jonathan Dolgen.

In 2008 the company won a lawsuit against the Io Group, where it was about the unauthorized provide of copyrighted video material. According to the judges Veoh has taken sufficient measures against copyright infringement to take exception with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act claim must. This case law is regarded as crucial to the decision in the dispute between Viacom and Google, in which the same question should be answered. Similar lawsuits against Universal Music Group were also held in January and September 2009 in favor of Veoh.

The two years long-lasting processes led, among other things, that Veoh had to file for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 in February 2010.
