Vepor Mountains

The Veporské Hills is a part of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the center of Slovakia and thus part of the Inner Western Carpathians. It borders the Low Tatras over the valley landscape Horehronské podolie in the north, to the Spišsko - Gemerský kras ( Spis - Gemer Karst ) in the east, the Stolické Hills ( two last mentioned part of the Slovak Ore Mountains ) to the south, the Polana in the southwest and the basin Zvolenska kotlina in the West. The highest elevation is the Fabova hola (1439 m nm).

The mountain is divided into four smaller geomorphological bases:

  • Fabova hora
  • Čierťaž
  • Sihlianska planina
  • Balocké Hills

The eastern part of the mountain is part of the National Park Muránska planina, the extreme western part of the protected landscape area Polana.

Tourist centers are located eg in Osrblie, or Čierny Balog Brezno.
