Vera Albreht

Vera Albreht (* February 12, 1895, † May 25, 1971 ) was a Slovenian poet.

Her mother Marija Kessler, a German, and her father Rudolph Kessler were in Ljubljana widely known in the Slovene literary scene was dominated among other Oton Župančič, Ivan Cankar and Fran Albreht.

Vera Albreht studied at the University of Vienna. In 1919 she married the poet and critic Francisco Albreht. In 1944 she was deported as members of the resistance organization Osvobodilna frontal by the Nazis in the concentration camp Ravensbrück.

After the war she and her husband moved to Ljubljana, where she worked as a journalist and in the Slovenian section of the PEN Club.
