Veraguas Province

Veraguas is the third largest province in Panama, bordering the only both the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean.

The capital of Veraguas Santiago de Veraguas is in the east of the province. The coastline on the Atlantic coast is 43 km and 353 km on the Pacific. To Veraguas consists of about 40 small and large islands, the largest including the Isla de Coiba is in the Gulf of Chiriquí, which is 493 km ² the largest island in Panama.

Around 4 % of the population belong to the indigenous population. The main economic factors in Veraguas are agriculture (rice, corn, sugar cane, coffee) and in recent years to an increasing extent, tourism (especially on the Azuero Peninsula ).

The Veraguas province is in turn divided into twelve districts ( distritos ) with a total of 95 municipalities ( corregimientos ) divided (in brackets the respective district capital ):
