Verena Jooß
Verena Jooß ( born January 9, 1979 in Karlsruhe) is a former German cyclist.
Verena Jooss, specializing in the 3000m individual pursuit on the track, a member of the RC 1899 Ludwigshafen frieze home and drove for the team Rothaus -Vita Classica Bad Krozingen previously for RG team to 2004 German Wine Road - Ruelzheim. She was trained by Olaf Klein. For cycling came the Karlsruherin until 2001, before it operated since 1985 Athletics ( 800m run and heptathlon ). It operated despite arthritis in both hocks sport.
2004 Jooß was third. At the German Championships in the points race and won the title in the individual pursuit The following year she won the title again, and was at the UCI Track World Championships in Los Angeles in eight in this discipline. In Moscow and Manchester still the fourth places were added in the World Cup. In the 2006 World Cup in Bordeaux Jooß was re- eighth. Followed in 2007 by the third German championship title in the individual pursuit and the third place in the 500 -meter time trial. At the World Cup in Los Angeles, she was Second and Ninth of the World Cup in Spain. So far she has won 13 races and placed 52 times in the top 15.
In the Track World Championships 2008 in Manchester Jooß was ten and thus lost her on the World Cup list seemed to be sure the launch site for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. After the completion of the UCI World Ranking she was tied with the Swiss Karin Thürig in ninth place. After only the Swiss was nominated by the International Association protested the BDR, and Verena Jooss was allowed to start at the games. The Deutsche Bahn Championships 2010 in Cottbus Verena Jooss took third place in the 500 -meter time trial; a year later she was in Berlin German champion in the team sprint ( with Miriam Welte ). In 2012 she was in the web -DM in Frankfurt / Oder, together with Mieke Kröger and Katrin Hammes third in the team pursuit, and third in the Keirin.
In October 2012 Verena Jooss ended her active career as a competitive athlete. She works as a teacher of mathematics and music at the Pestalozzi School in Ettlingen.
