Verka Serduchka

Andrij Mychajlowytsch Danylko ( born October 2, 1973 in Poltava ), better known by his stage name Serduchka, is a Ukrainian Trash and dance singer who plays the character of crazy, naughty, older lady " Serduchka ". Serduchka began his career with Sketch appearances, first in Ukraine, and later in the entire Russian-speaking countries.

Life

Andrij Danylko comes from a humble background. In primary school the shy Andrij promised his classmate Anna Serdyuk to make their name once famous - which he did years later with the pseudonym " Serduchka ".

After school Danylko tried in Kiev to make a classical music education, but was refused and instead attended a technical school. Only years later he went for one and a half years in the Estradno Circus school, but he dropped out before graduating.

In 1997, he got a " Serduchka " a starring role in their own comedy talk show of the Ukrainian television. The show was quite popular in Russia and Belarus.

Andrij Danylko sings in a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian language on predominantly Ukrainian (and Russian ) content.

November 21, 2007 Danylko complained of sudden onset of back pain, which was so strong that he temporarily lost consciousness. At the hospital, the clamping of a nerve was found. The doctors could not initially rule out a permanent paraplegia. However Danylko soon recovered.

Euro Vision Song Contest

In the Euro Vision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki took Andrij Danylko ( Serduchka ) Ukraine titled Dancing Lasha Tumbai and took second place.

The number that contains Ukrainian-Russian and German and English text, but above all characterized by its catchy, spirited accordion melody, turned out after the contest as the most commercially successful internationally. Across Europe, the song entered the charts. In Sweden about the song placed at No. 6 before the competition winner Molitva from Serbia ( 9th place). In France and Finland, it reached the Top 10

The nonsensical passage Lasha Tumbai the Euro Vision Post was understood by many listeners as Russia Goodbye. Danylko claims that the acoustic similarity is coincidental and unintentional directed against Russia statement. However, after the Euro vision contest a de facto banned from performing in Russia and other former Soviet republics, at the concert and festival organizers refused to let Danylko occur evolved. Danylko even suspects the circles of the first Russian state television channel, were jealous of his success in the singing competition.
