Note the traffic contract

Mid-June 2008 announced the VRR clinched the contract with DB Regio services in the amount of 300 million euros. The train services that were provided in the context of this large transportation contract have since been operated by DB Regio NRW GmbH on the basis of a sovereign imposition to which the VRR is entitled as a sovereign entity under public law in his capacity. DB Regio NRW GmbH, however this termination and the imposition held to be illegal and was on the point of view to carry out the train services in the context of their opinion valid major transport contract. On December 19, presented the Administrative Court Gelsenkirchen found that the termination of the major transport contract by the VRR is invalid and ordered the VRR to pay the withheld amount. Through the mediation of former North Rhine -Westphalia's Minister of Transport Oliver Wittke (CDU ) was agreed in 2009 to a new major transport contract. The RE- lines to 2016, the S-Bahn to go to tender in 2023. This was but tilted unlawfulness of the public procurement tribunal of the district government of Münster. Also, the Higher Regional Court of Dusseldorf follows this interpretation of the law, but the case put before the Federal Court for decision, as the Court of Appeal Brandenburg had like an otherwise sound judgment in 2003.

This has declared the contract on 8 February 2011 in full void. Despite hanging in the balance contractual agreement VRR, and DB Regio have introduced the new timetable concept in December 2010. Both DB Regio NRW and the VRR now looking for a new agreement that is within the scope of what keeps the federal court admissible. They may consist, according to VRR boss Martin Husmann " four to six screws ". Even Transport Minister Harry Voigt Berger (SPD ) is to achieve a rapid revision.

Schedule areas and line numbers

The area of the VRR was divided to its founding in ten areas timetable, which took into account in the award of line numbers. This system is still used today to a large extent, but is watered by numerous special solutions (eg local bus lines):

Normally, lines are to be distinguished by their number. ( Where X is one assigned by the transport company line identifier for the number of the schedule area and Y. )

  • Light rail, even if they run mostly above ground, wear line numbers prefixed by ' U' in the schema UXY ( key differentiator trams is the presence of high platforms ). The Wuppertal suspension railway bears - mainly for internal purposes - the line number 60 without leading U.
  • Trams travel the lines x0y and X1Y ( in Dortmund: UXY, in Krefeld: X4Y )
  • The remaining lines in the format XYY are bus lines, which were sometimes awarded for these line numbers after the tram numbering scheme. In the districts Wesel and Kleve the numeral " X" simply missing; there so the lines have the format Y or YY or SLY or SLYY for rides that operate primarily within a community. When Rheinbahn there are also lines according to the scheme OY or OYY in Velbert to the ovy scheme. Here, "O" or "OV " the one-or two -digit line number prefix letters. Operated by BVR buses throughout the composite area with area-dependent first digit. The originally preferred allocation of 8 or 9 as the second digit in lines of this company is now no longer practiced consistently.

The timetable books Bochum, Gelsenkirchen and Hattingen / Sprockhövel are no longer issued since 2012. Instead, free line timetables in Bogestra available. After substantial protests by the passengers and on the instructions of the local policy setting decision was revised: As of 2013, there will be printed timetable books again.

VRR provides the composite members of the infrastructure for integrating passenger information into their own websites. Since 2006, this information will be enriched information to real-time information, so that real-time schedule information will be provided for the passenger available on the internet. In addition to real-time information of the Deutsche Bahn are also real- time data of the participating carrier interconnection and Märkischen transport company specified by the German by the Association transport companies VDV454 Protocol, a protocol for the exchange of command schedules and actual data to the reinvigoration of timetable information, on the so-called Istdatenserver VRR connected and transmitted also adjacent networks.
