Vernon Taylor

Vernon Taylor ( born November 9, 1937 in Sandy Spring, Maryland) is an American rockabilly singer.

Life

Childhood and youth

Vernon Taylor was born as the youngest child of a farming family. He was early on influenced by music, in the family, as well as records. In his teenage years were mainly country stars such as Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams, as well as the "Singing Cowboy " Gene Autry and Roy Rogers his idols. In the early 1950s were the Hillbilly Boogie and the early rockabilly other influences for Taylor.

Career

With two friends, he founded The Nighthawks. With this band he has performed at local events and on the radio. After he had played regularly with Curley Smith together, he also appeared with Jimmy Dean, a famous country singer. With appearances in a known Saturday evening show were Taylor and his band a recording contract with Dot Records. There he published in 1957, I've Got The Blues on the A- side and Losing Game on the B - side of his first single, but was never addressed.

While he continued to perform regularly, he moved to Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. There he published two more plates were also unsuccessful. After his failure as a musician, he decided to abandon his music career in favor of a civil work. Only on weekends Taylor occurred yet.

In 1989, he appeared at a Charlie Feathers concert. He became known during the rockabilly revival in the rockabilly fan base through this performance. In 1995 he brought the German label Eagle Records released his first CD. Vernon Taylor occurs even today.
