Verse–chorus form

The verses [ vɜ ː (r ) s] ( English for " verse " or " verse " ) refers, in particular in the Anglo-American popular music section of a song that precedes the chorus and usually has preliminary character. It is often presented in tempo rubato.

Particularly in the first half of the 20th century American ( rarely also British ) pop songs were composed of both a formal verses as well as a chorus. Since the mid-20th century most of the songs consist only of a chorus. Even with songs that have verses and chorus, the verse is often not presented today beyond musical performances. While in jazz singing in exceptional cases, the verses will be included in the interpretation of a song, it is not considered in instrumental jazz; where only the chorus is played ( an exception frequently arises Lush Life is ).
