Vesna Parun

Vesna Parun ( born April 10, 1922 in Zlarin, † 25 October, 2010 Stubičke Toplice ) was one of the most respected Croatian writers. She was known for her poems.

Life

Vesna Parun and her family lived under difficult living conditions. Her father Ante often changed his jobs and was unemployed for a while, so Vesna Parun spent part of her childhood and youth with her aunt in Split and Šibenik. She graduated from the elementary school on the island of Vis and then attended high school in Šibenik and Split, where she completed her secondary schooling in 1940. She was an excellent student and earned at the age of 14 years with tutoring their own money. After high school she started at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb the study of Romance languages ​​. The only begun studying she had to cancel because of the war.

After the war she began to study again, but devoted himself to philosophy. 1947 Vesna Parun ill with typhoid fever. At that time she had also to crises caused by an unhappy love. Because of these heavy blows of fate, she broke her studies again.

From the year 1962 to 1967 lived Vesna Parun in Bulgaria, where she married and had also divorced again. The result of their stay in Bulgaria are her numerous translations of Bulgarian poetry. After their return they lived in Zagreb, where she worked as a freelance writer. For health reasons, few years later they left Zagreb and went to the thermal baths of Donja Stubica. Here he wrote some of their works.

Vesna Parun devoted himself completely to the literature and was the first female writer in Croatian literature, who lived exclusively of literature and the literature. She was one of the most famous contemporary poets in Croatia.

Works

Vesna Parun began at an early age with the letter to. Her first poem, " Pramaljeće " was published ( The Guardian Angel ) in the journal " ANDJEO Čuvar » 1932. It was followed by the poem " Zov " ( The Call ), which in the journal " Sjeme " ( The seed ) was published in 1938. Besides poetry, she also wrote dramas. The children's poem played an important role in her poetry. There over 60 books of poetry and prose have been published and four of her dramas were staged.

Awards

For her work Vesna Parun received numerous awards and meaningful. For her collection of poems " Pjesme " (song ) ( 1948), she was awarded the " Matica Hrvatska " for collection " Crna maslina " ( Black Olive ) ( 1955), the Award of the City of Zagreb, for her verse novel " Mačak Džingiskan i Miki Trasi " ( the cat Đžingiskan and Miki Trasi ) ( 1968), she was awarded the distinction of " Grigor Vitez ". The award " Matica Srpska " 1972 in Novi Sad they got as the most successful children's poet, and in 1970 it was awarded a diploma for poetry in Paris.

In 2003 she was awarded the "Tin Ujević " for their sonnet collection. In 1982, she was honored for her life's work.
