Vesselina Kasarova

Vesselina Kasarova ( Bulgarian Веселина Кацарова, Wesselina Kazarowa, transliteration: Veselina Kacarova; born July 18, 1965 in Stara Zagora ) is a singer (mezzo- soprano) Bulgarian origin. She is since 1997 a Swiss citizen and lives in Zollikon in Zurich.

Life and work

At the age of 4 years she has already received his first piano lessons at the music school Pionerski Cathedral and attended by 14 years, the music -oriented high school Christina Morfova. In 1984 she took first singing lessons and joined the same time as her piano studies with diploma, followed by studies followed at the musical academy in Sofia and singing lessons with Ressa Kolewa. Incidentally, followed by first appearances at the National Opera of Sofia as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Gioacchino Rossini, who was to become her signature role later. In 1989, she completed her studies and was appointed to the Zurich Opera House. There she began her career with small to medium roles such as Alisa ( Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti ) and Annio (La Clemenza di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), however, they sang on the side of big fellow like Edita Gruberova or Ann Murray. Among her most famous roles also include the Sesto from La Clemenza di Tito, whom she first sang in 1997 at the Salzburg Festival and now also at the Zurich Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Opéra Bastille in Paris, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and recently at the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich successfully interpreted. In the classical label RCA / BMG recordings of several Bulgarian have already been published, including complete opera recordings, as well as arias and duet plates. There she developed a close collaboration with the tenor Juan Diego Flórez, with whom she has had some of its greatest successes ( Rossini's La Cenerentola in Pesaro and London). In the summer of 2008, she was at the Zurich Opera her debut as Carmen, a role which she designed in September 2009, also at the Cologne Opera House. As a further role debuts she works on the Didon (Les Troyens ), Eboli ( Don Carlos ) and Venus ( Tannhäuser ). On June 5, 2010, she performed at the final concert of SING - DAY OF SONG at the Veltins - Arena in Gelsenkirchen in the context of RUHR.2010 project - European Capital of Culture on. In 2011, she participated in the 19th Festive Opera Gala of the German AIDS Foundation as a solo singer. At the turn of 2013/2014 she performed several times at the Cologne Opera as Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus). Also at the Cologne Opera then joined in March 2014, a series of performances as Dalila in Samson and Delilah on.
