Cookson Group plc. was a British technology company with corporate headquarters in Fleet Street in London. The company was listed until recently on the London Stock Exchange and constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. The company acted as a conglomerate and was divided into three business segments: Engineered Ceramics, Performance Materials and Precious Metals Processing.

After a more than 300 year history, the company has split on December 18, 2012. The Performance Materials Division has been floated as a separate company, named Alent plc., In London. The same applies to the Division Engineered Ceramic, now under the name Vesuvius plc. formed.

Business

The Cookson Group had in its three business segments, more than 15,500 people in over 40 countries.

Cookson Engineered Ceramics formed last with a revenue share of 60% ( 1686.00 million pounds ) of the total turnover of the Group 's largest division. There, more than 11,000 people were employed. The main brand of the area was " Vesuvius" with headquarters in Crainhem, Belgium.

Cookson Performance Materials had a share of 29% ( 814 million pounds ) and 2,700 employees. Main brands were " Enthone " and " Alpha", headquartered in Providence, United States.

Cookson Precious Metals Processing with a revenue share of 11 % ( 326 million pounds ) and had 1,500 employees headquartered in Attleboro, United States.

Cookson Group Germany

In Germany, the Cookson Group was represented with two business areas: Engineered Ceramics and Performance Materials

The German headquarters of Cookson Performance Materials was in Langenfeld, between Cologne and Dusseldorf. With approximately 350 employees, developed, produced and sold the company there specialty chemicals (brand Enthone ) and electrical engineering ( brand alpha). Since the takeover of the company ORMECON in Ammersbek near Hamburg, was there the Nanoscience Center of the company.

The Engineered Ceramics had business and production sites in Borken and Grossalmerode.
