Větřní

Vetřní ( German bettors ) is a municipality with 3914 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south-west of Cesky Krumlov and belongs to the Okres Český Krumlov on. The land area is 2766 ha

Geography

The place is located in 607 m asl the left side of the Vltava River on the western slope of the 789 m high Větrník. Neighboring towns are Austerlitz and Mezipotočí in the West, Jezvinec, Němeč and Spolí in the north, the east and Spolí Lužná in the south.

History

The first mention of wetern comes from the September 7, 1347, as awarded his chamberlain Visna Peter I. von Rosenberg. 1380 received the court wetern the status of a free Erblehns and the Rosenbergs leaving the Visna of wetern same time nor the Pötschmühle ( PECKA ). The visna, which can be traced to the beginning of the 17th century, held high offices at the court of the Rosenbergs. 1603 January Visna had his indebted estate bettors with Gollitsch ( Kaliště ), sell Mödling ( METLIN ) and Niemsching ( Němeč ) to the city of Cesky Krumlov. After the defeat in the Battle of White Mountain left Visna Bohemia. He was probably the last of this noble family, which has since never mentioned again.

Until the abolition of the manorial system in 1850 bettors among the possessions of the city of Cesky Krumlov. 1867 acquired the Hyllek Spiro Pötschmühle and built the old grist mill to a groundwood mill. From this, a paper mill, which was the largest employer in the town was founded. 1880 lived in bettors 231 people, 1910, there were already 1005. The place expanded and developed housing estates for the workers. This trend continued into the 20th century and 1930 had bettors that had developed into a settlement of urban type - but without ever having city rights 1697 inhabitants. In 1892 the reconstruction of the medieval fortress into a school. In the 1920s consisted in the spiro- paper and pulp mill over 1000 jobs. After the Second World War, the company was nationalized.

The now privatized into a joint-stock company paper mill JIP - Papírny Vetřní, as is still the most important companies in the place.
