Etymology

After the place-name researchers Gerhard Mürkens the name has as many of these Celtic area, even pre-Celtic roots. In Celtic- Roman times he was probably Fachina. A Matronensteine found near the creek near Euskirchen and Zingsheim the Matronae Fachinehae suggest. The word is, in turn, on " bachina " the pre-Celtic word " Begh " basis, which means with haste, and found again in many fast flowing creek name: Becke.

As already apparent from the place name, the river changes its spelling. South of Katzvey it is written with 'F', from there with 'V'. That is until today based on designations ( Feytalstraße in Mechernich Feyermühle width at Benden, on Feybach in Eiserfey ) can be seen. On the maps of the BfN the creek is called continuously from full to its mouth Veybach and does not change its name. In its course it passes Eiserfey that Feyermühle width at Benden, the ND Burgfey, Katzvey, Satzvey and the castle Veynau.

Mills

The water of the Veybachs was used in ancient times in many ways to drive mills, hammer mills and textile factories. So there used to be seven textile mills on Bach.Allein in Satzvey there used three mills, a grain, an oil and a Lohmühle. < Mills in Satzvey from page 22
