VfL Herzlake
VfL Heart Lake ( officially: Association for Physical Education Heart Lake from 1921 eV ) is a sports club from Heart Lake in Emsland. The club played five years in the Regionalliga Nord, and in 1993 participated in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga. In order for the heart VfL Lake is behind the SV Meppen the second most successful football club of the Emsland. Since 2010, the team plays in the district league. Home ground is the Hasetalstadion.
History
Early years ( 1921-1979 )
VfL Heart Lake was founded in 1921 as FC Heart Lake. The club 's founder Hermann Lake, August Tieke and Hermann Hüring were close to the local Catholic Journeymen's Association. The first game of the club's history is lost in Grafeld 0:1. In the second game, there was a 00:15 defeat in Haselünne, which represents the worst defeat for a seniors team of VfL Heart Lake. Once it was the DJK mid-1920s succeeded in extending the sport at the Emsland in 1927 from the FC Heart Lake DJK Green-White Heart Lake.
With the assumption of power by the Nazis in 1935, the club was disbanded. In 1946 the foundation was as VfL Heart Lake. The first two decades of the VfL story went quiet. The team shuttled between county league and 2nd circuit class. In 1966 the seating manufacturer Karl -Heinz Klose took over the club's management. Three years later, the first time succeeded in rising to the county class, before 1973, the jump in the District 8 league succeeded.
At the same time VfL won by a 4-2 win against Eintracht Nordhorn the Emsland Cup. In 1975, saw him rise to the then fifth rate Federation League West, where the team was runner-up in 1976 immediately after Falcon Steinfeld was. In the North German peak (1979 to 1994)
After two fourth places the Emsländer were in the national league 1981/82 runners-up behind blue-white wages. By a 4-1 victory in the decider against TuS ground pond VfL rose to the fifth division of Lower Saxony. After re Niedersachsen Cup VfL failed initially in the promotion round by the worse goal difference at TuS Hoisdorf. Then Eintracht Braunschweig promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, so that a play-off between the heart and the Lakern VfB Lübeck was applied. The Wolves won in the neutral Wunstorf 3-1.
Despite numerous domestic and foreign reinforcements, the team came in the first Oberliga years does not go beyond midfield positions and struggled at times against relegation. In 1992, Rainer Persike took over as coach and led his team to the championship. The following promotion round the team against Rot -Weiss Essen, Preußen Münster and Eintracht Trier had no chance and was only group last. The 6500 spectators at the match against food were responsible for the biggest home game backdrop of the club's history.
Regional and annual retreat (since 1994)
In 1994, the VfL qualified for the newly created Regionalliga Nord, where the team in the season 1994/95 reached only third behind VfB Lübeck and VfL Osnabrück. In the following years it went downhill sports, and the end of 1996, the President Klose moved to almost 30 years back from the club. As a consequence, the club opted for a voluntary withdrawal in a lower division. A group of local businessmen then took over the responsibility in the organization that ran aground as VfL Hasetal Heart Lake and only with young players from the region in 1997.
The league was made despite a temporary 1:9 defeat against the amateurs of Werder Bremen. In the following season 1998/99 the club, however, a loss of 250,000 Mark suffered and rose from last but one of the regional league. As a consequence, the club moved his team back into the first class county Emsland. At the same time the word " Hasetal " has been deleted again from the association name. After two consecutive ascents of VfL Heart Lake played since 2010 in the district league Weser / Ems 3, 2013 but had to accept relegation in the county league.

The senior teams include three men's teams and a women's team. For the youth sector in total include 17 teams. Besides football and handball, volleyball and gymnastics play a role in the association.
