VfL Stettin was a German football club based in Stettin in Pomerania.

History

1912 Founded in 1847, the Szczecin Turnverein (Corp. ) gained a football department. Particular success was not going to announce this department, as they broke up in 1925 under the " Clean Lichen divorce" from the gymnastics club and set up his practice as an association for physical education. In the following period is noteworthy that the association at the "German mountain" a private sports ground with a capacity of 2,500 spectators created.

That changed when in 1930 following the bankruptcy of FC Titania Stettin, most of whose players joined the VfL ​​. With the quantity was the quality and thus the footballing success to the blue-white. In the seasons 1931/32 and 1932/33, each of the catchment in the Pomerania - finals, where the fourth place achieved. Thus, the VfL ​​qualified for the new Gauliga Pomerania ( West ), from which he descended, however, according to midfield squares in the previous years in the 1935/36 season.

With the return of 1939/40, it was like the biggest success in club history: The club joined not only the playing time from the first, but was even after three matches (2:1, 0:1, 5:2 ) against the "East- winner " Germania Stolp Pommern - master. In order for the VfL ​​could also participate in the final round of the German Cup, in which he, however, in the preliminary group 1a against the Berlin -Brandenburg Masters SC Union Oberschoeneweide and the East Prussian champions VfB Königsberg had no chance and was devoid of points Last.

It was followed by two Gauliga - years, a drain and a rise and 1944/45, three games in the Gauliga Stettin before the events of war put an end to the football. With the end of World War II, VfL Stettin went out.

Venue

VfL Stettin wore its home games in the season 1940/41, from the Prussian sports fields in Szczecin - Neuwestend. The local sports field took 10,000 spectators. The attendance record (1922 ) was 5,000 spectators.
