VG Airlines

Brussels Airport

VG Airlines SA ( since August 2002 trading as Delsey Airlines) was a short-lived Belgian airline. The company has ceased operations in October 2002.

History

The airline VG Airlines was founded in early 2002 by Freddy Van Gaever in Antwerp, who had previously served as Managing Director with the airlines European Air Transport (EAT ) and VLM Airlines. In addition to Van Gaever had the Belgian entrepreneur Antony Gram, the owner of the luggage Delsey producers, a stake in the company. VG Airlines acquired the rights for some line from Brussels outbound routes to the United States that were previously operated by the bankrupt Sabena. The company leased in the spring of 2002, three aircraft of the type Airbus A330. Pending the inclusion of one's scheduled flight operation, the machines were used on behalf of the Air Holland on charter flights. On May 23, 2002 with the incorporation of a regular service from Brussels- Zaventem airport was to New York. As a further transatlantic objectives were Boston ( from June 20 ) and Los Angeles served ( from 30 June ) from Brussels. At the same time the VG Airlines had concluded a cooperation agreement with the Armenian Airlines and taught together with this an extension of the Los Angeles route via Brussels to Yerevan Airport in Armenia one. In the early summer of 2002 came VG Airlines in economic difficulties. Due to problems with the American system of booking return flights from the United States were occupied in part only to 25 percent. In addition, there were unpaid claims against the Air Holland, which because of their own financial situation could not pay their undrawn charter services. To avert the impending insolvency of the VG Airlines, Anthony Gram invested additional capital and took over the airline on 8 August 2002 entirely. The company was then renamed in the same month for Delsey Airlines. The company continued to be unprofitable. On 24 October 2002, the company ceased flight operations for economic reasons. The Delsey Airlines was declared bankrupt on 5 November 2002.
