VGF is a peptide, the " VGF nerve growth factor inducible protein" as, " Neuroendocrine specific protein " or " VGF protein" is well known and has been discovered in 1985. It consists of 593 amino acids and is controlled by the tissue hormone NGF. The Molar mass of 65 kDa. VGF and its fragments play a role in the energy budget, food intake and mood. VGF released by neurons of the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as cells of the adrenal gland and the beta cells of the endocrine portion of the pancreas.
