History

On June 2, 1906, the Paris Métro Line 5 from the station Place d'Italie was the Gare d'Orléans station (now the Gare d' Austerlitz ) opens on the Left Bank. The bridge over the river was created between November 1903 and December 1904 by the Société de Construction de Levallois -Perret. On 14 July 1906, the extension of line 5 ( since 1916: Quai de la Rapée ) went to the right of the Seine located at Station Place Manzas in operation.

Construction and location

The Viaduc d' Austerlitz is a steel arch bridge with a clearance of 140 meters, he surpassed the 1900 completed Pont Alexandre III to 32.50 meters.
